EDM (electrical discharge machining), is a manufacturing process whereby a desired shape is obtained by using electrical discharges.  It is often used in OEM.  An "original equipment manufacturer" (OEM) is a company that produces parts and equipment that may be marketed by another manufacturer.  EDM is a machining method primarily used for hard metals or those that would be very difficult to machine with traditional techniques.
